Speeding Ticket Insurance – Will it go up?

July 31st, 2009

If you’re 25 or older, and in the past 3 years this is the only ticket you’ve gotten, it probably wont affect your auto insurance premium.

Insurance companies do not always review your driving record every year. They review it when you first apply, after that, it depends on the insurance company.

The problems start with your 2nd ticket. This is why it’s important to keep every ticket off your record.

Typically you can expect one four point ticket to increase your insurance premiums by at least 50% for each of the next three years.

If you’ve received a speeding ticket, but have not yet been convicted, now’s the time to switch insurance companies. Chances are, your existing company hasn’t done a recent check on you and you might be overdue for one. Also, if your insurance is coming up for renewal, they may check before renewing, to see if there’s an opportunity to increase your rate (which in your case, there will be).

There are a number of cheap auto insurance rate finding services on the internet. If you’ve ever filled out an online quote, you know it can be very long and painful, especially if you’re shopping around for several competitive quotes.

Auto Insurance Tips is one of the largest service providers with over 1,000,000 insured customers worldwide. They’ve been helping people with less than perfect driving records actually save money on their insurance premiums, and in some cases they’re able to actually get a lower rate than what is paid to the existing insurance company BEFORE the speeding ticket was given.

There is no cost to register with them, and they (with your permission) will email you quotes from various insurance companies. You can then decide which one you want to switch to

Can You Write? Earn Extra Cash At Your Leisure

July 8th, 2009

With the job market being so terrible these days, people that have been laid off have recently shifted their efforts from searching for another job, to doing freelance stuff like general contracting or writing.

If you’re handy with home renovations or landscaping work like patios & decks, people are finding success by posting ads on Craigslist and Kijiji advertising their services.

If you’re good at writing, there are a lot of places that will pay you good money to write articles and content for websites/blogs and newspapers. One of the better known freelance article writing sites, with the best and quickest payouts, is Freelance Home Writers. Writers are getting paid as much as $500 for writing novels, or you can start off smaller and write short articles for $25 each. If you can write an article per hour, you’re making as much, if not more than you were at your full time job. And the beauty is you can write as much or as little as you like, and YOU can choose the topics you write about.

Freelance Home Writers always pays on time and their rates are the best around. Another thing that makes Freelance Home Writers better than their competitors is the fact that they charge a small sign up fee. It’s only $2.95 but it demonstrates commitment. Other sites that don’t charge a sign up may seem good because they’re free, but both writers and article seekers are getting frustrated at the lack of commitment since there is nothing to lose. When a writer signs up for Freelance Home Writers they are making a commitment to perform. Each job counts towards their profile and a profile with positive feedback is a great tool for getting more work.

So for the price of 2 cups of coffee, give Freelance Home Writers a try, and Earn extra cash as a Freelance writer.

Switch Credit Card Products To a Lower Interest Rate Without a Credit Check

July 7th, 2009

Someone that I am helping to rid themselves of debt has recently reduced the interest rate on a portion of their debt by 15%! And it was very simple, but a lot of people don’t really give this concept much thought.

She had a TD Rewards VISA card (one where she earns 1% cash back on her purchases) with an annual interest rate of 19.90% OUCH! She had a $5200 balance. After a simple 5 minute call to TD customer service she had this card immediately switched to their Emerald Visa card, that carries a 9.15 balance (its actually based on TD prime + an amount dependent on your credit). AND she was able to keep the $100 in rewards she had accumulated!

She then called CitiBank and had them switch her visa to their lowest interest rate product (they have 2 options; 16.9% APR with $0 annual fee, or 14.9% APR with $100 annual fee). She was paying 19.9% on that one too.

Her 3rd attempt was unsuccessful. She has a card with Capital One and they were not only less than helpful, they were downright arrogant on the phone. She explained that the other 2 banks were very accommodating, but “that’s not the way we work, if you refer to your agreement…” (customer service reps love to play the ‘it states it in your cardholder agreement’ card  ) Anyhow, she’ll be paying off the Capital One card first, and canceling it.

I use to be a fan of these tier 2 banks that didn’t have the overhead of many locations and staff. ones that work out of kiosks, since they have very minimal fees however i am beginning to appreciate how important customer service and policy/procedures are when you try to do something other than the typical day to day things.

Make Extra Money from Home

June 29th, 2009

So i decided to hit a different angle this time. If you’re like me and like to find creative ways to cut back on your monthly spending, then you’re probably also like me in that you’re open to learning ways to make a couple extra bucks with minimal effort (let’s face it, if you have a full time job, you want to save your free time for the important stuff, but if you could spare an hour or two per week – whenever it’s convenient for you (i.e. rainy day/cold weather) than why not give it a shot?).

I recently came across a website that talks about how people are making money through ebay. It’s nice in that you only pay like $2 for shipping for the product, and it holds your hand from start to finish with getting set up with an ebay store and selling things on ebay.

So if in addition to saving that monthly spending, you’re open to earning some extra dollars on the side, give the ebay success system a try.

Bankruptcy Vs Settlement

June 4th, 2009

Bankruptcy vs Settlement

The other day while driving home from work I saw a sign that said “Reduce your debt by 60%”, and a phone number. I called it to see what it was about. The person explained that they would work with the lenders to get them to lower the outstanding balance by explaining that the person has no other options but to file for bankruptcy. In a lot of cases the lender will cut the balance in half. It will hurt your credit score for 3 years (vs bankruptcy which stays on your record for 7), and provides a medium as oppose to full-on bankruptcy.

One of best services for helping you settle your debt is from a company called Sunrise Debt Settlement. They act as your agent in finding a debt settlement agency. They’ll pair your situation and needs to a suitable debt settlement agency, and their service is absolutely free!

There is so much competition in the Auto Insurance Industry, if you are smart you will take advantage if the fact that they are fighting for your business. A lot of people are and have been with the same auto insurance company for years. Why? Smart, financially savvy people are frequently switching service providers to get the best possible rate. Cancel your cable or satellite RIGHT NOW

March 13th, 2009

Yes, you heard correct. Your monthly cable bill is probably HUGE, if you subscribe to more than just the basic channels, and since 90% of North Americans LOVE their TV, there’s a good chance you’re one of them and are paying $50, $60, or $100/month for all those channels you hardly watch. What if i told you you could make one last $60 payment (1 month’s worth of cable) and after that have free access to all the channels you’ve come to know and love, and never pay another penny towards cable? You’d think I’m crazy right? well you’re only half right. i AM crazy, but it’s true about dropping that heavy monthly expense. My New TV Satellite has a killer piece of software that will run on most PCs or Laptops, requires NO additional hardware, that will give you access to 2500 channels. By killing that $60/month payment it will free up your cash flow you could use to pay down other high interest debt. Click Here to visit My New Satellite TV

Property Tax – Bank pays on your behalf?

March 12th, 2009

A lot of new home buyers are so overwhelmed with the purchasing experience, that it clouds their decision making ability to the point where they want to just get everything over with, in the easiest way possible. one of the options when taking on a home mortgage is who is going to pay the city your property tax.

There are 2 options:

1. the bank collects what they believe is a fair estimate of what the property tax is going to be, as part of your mortgage payment. the city sends the bill to the bank quarterly or semi-annually, and the bank pays it for you

2. you pay your own property tax.

Most people choose option 1 since its the easiest, however why just hand your money to the bank months in advance? especially if you have other debts.

If you are currently having the bank pay the property tax on your behalf, tell them to stop. put the money they would have normally collected towards paying down your debt. You will save on interest since its often $200-$300 that’s being collected. when the bill comes in, pay as much as you can with money you have, and if you have to, put the remainder back on a line of credit (since the credit is now available).
